My name is Haley Kipe and I am a freshman and Pre-Business major at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My hometown is Greencastle, Pennsylvania… Yes, Pennsylvania. A little far away from home, you might ask? Four hundred and seventeen miles away from home actually, but Charlotte has become my home away from home in a short time. The hustle and bustle of the Uptown city-life atmosphere mixes with calm suburban-like serenity you can also find in what is popularly referred to as the Queen City.
As I embark on this blogging journey I will be researching and commenting on a media related topic (problem if you will) of my choice. As you know, media is limitless and, it seems, endless, so why not fight fire with fire and discuss media’s so-called issues on, well, media? Media is the most effective means of transmitting information to the public, and there is always something new to be read, watched, reviewed, and listened to. As I follow a line of inquiry that I have developed myself, I will be posting articles, videos, and other visuals along with my own personal thoughts and feelings about my chosen topic.
In blogging about my specific media-related line of inquiry I hope to develop a better understanding of the internet as a mean of expressing your ideas and concerns, but also as a mean of information. With a single click, an internet user is available to hundreds of thousands of informational sources on any given topic, but what sources are credible? Good to read? Appropriate for your topic? Also, thousands of people on the internet have taken to a new phenomenon called “blogging” to convey new ideas, problems, and even self-help solutions. Through my line of inquiry, I hope to be better acquainted with the almost daunting, due to it’s size and stature, idea of the internet.
As a reader, I hope you can become familiar with the issues I am discussing just as I am becoming more informed of the issues I am researching. I am now formally inviting you, through your computer, tablet, or phone screen, to read and enjoy my blog!
